I've sadly been let down by Calm Amongst the Chaos. While Frances and the team were perfectly polite and welcoming during the two face to face meetings we had I'm disappointed with the lack of communication surrounding the plans for my wedding dress. We came in with pictures, ideas and a deposit back in the summer and we agreed that as there was over a year until the wedding we would meet up again closer to Christmas to start the ball rolling. I had not heard anything for a few months and as it is now November I emailed and asked what dates they could fit me in for the next meeting. The response I received stated that Calm Amongst the Chaos had "changed direction" and were no longer going to be making bespoke dresses or occasion wear of any kind. I am lucky that we started planning this well in advance so I have plenty of time to find a replacement but I do hope there are no other brides left disappointed with less time on their hands. Frances has offered to pay back our deposit in full but it's a real shame that a local business like this with such nice ideas missed the mark.

It's always disappointing when businesses, especially small businesses - get it so so so wrong.Firstly, the other Google review from a 'Mr Farmer' is in fact the owners husband. Smooth. Sadly, from my understanding he's only one of very few that could scribe such a glowing testimony.I appointed Francis to make up 7 ties for my wedding using extremely expensive Fabric sourced from Hardi Minis. Francis initially told me that she'd made suits and ties before and that there'd be no issue with making up the ties. She also asked that i supply a tie for her to copy.Fast forward 6 weeks. I go in to collect the ties having paid 245 for francis to make them up for me (doesn't include over 200 in material cost). To say that Francis completely botched the ties is an absolute understatement. The cutting was poor and inaccurate. The stitching was not straight and the shape across the 7 ties was completely inconsistent. Worst of all the ties hadn't been lined.Having picked this up with Francis she went on to tell me that 'it's how i make a tie' 'i'm not a tailor, go pay saville row prices if you want that' and that 'i have lined your ties.'Having taken a pair of scissors to one tie - i found that francis had yet again lied to me as all 7 ties included ZERO lining. After asking francis to repay me for the material she'd just destroyed, 3 weeks before my wedding - she refused and ignored my emails. Class.SO, all in all - if you do wish to take a punt on francis - do it with your eyes open. She's a slippery fish, and has the personal and professional manner of no one else i've ever quite come across.If you need more information - please let me know - more than happy to share.
